Sara Thompson

Sara Thompson is a communications professional, educator, and nonprofit leader with nearly a decade of experience advancing affordable housing and community development through her work with Habitat for Humanity affiliates across North Carolina. Her background includes communications, advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement, and she is passionate about helping mission-driven organizations tell their stories and strengthen their impact. Sara holds a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies and is also a public speaking coach who helps professionals communicate with confidence and authenticity. She is honored to serve on the board of Second Chance and support its mission of providing care, protection, and new beginnings for animals in need. Raised in a family that believed in giving discarded animals a second chance, Sara has never met a cat or dog she didn't want to pet. In her spare time, she enjoys weightlifting, history podcasts, and craft coffee. She dedicates her work in rescue to Linda in HR, her beloved dog pictured with her, who was saved from euthanasia by HEART and became a minor Instagram celebrity during their seven and a half years together. Today, Sara shares life with rescue cats, Patsy and Betty, and rescue dog, Winston. You can follow their adventures at @lindainhr.
