“Fostering kittens has been a calling, a joy, and often, my greatest source of peace for almost 10 years. There’s nothing quite like the soft purr of a tiny kitten curled up in your lap. Each kitten brings its own story, spark, and unique place in my heart. Saying goodbye is never easy, but I do it knowing there’s another little soul out there needing shelter and love. Fostering is about giving “second chances”, creating safe beginnings, and offering love when it’s needed most. It’s been almost a decade of feedings, cleaning litterboxes, spilled water bowls, tiny paw prints, turning the hissy/spitty into loving social kitties and then bittersweet goodbyes—and I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. Being a foster is a privilege, and the reward is beyond words.

“My husband and I decided to try fostering dogs after we lost our precious Destiny after 14 years and her loss left a tremendous void in our lives. The Second Chance Dog Transport program seemed like the best fit for us as it was short-term and we travel often. It provided us with the doggie love that we so desperately were missing and has been a terrific experience for both us and for the dogs we have fostered.
Our vacation fosters chill out at our house while their full-time foster caregivers are out of town and our transport fosters can recover after their medical care while awaiting transport. We are so happy when our fosters aare adopted into their forever homes and we are so thankful to have been a part of their journey. We will continue to foster, as it has truly enriched our lives with all the different doggie personalities and quirks that we have had the chance to meet and love, if only for a short time.”
