December 17-24: Second Chance elves will wrap your gifts! We’ve got all the supplies you need, so bring all your presents, pick out your favorite paper, bows, bags, and boxes, and then sit back as we do all the work for you! Simply bring a donation for the animals when you bring your gifts to Crossroads in Cary.

Sat., Dec. 14, 11:00-3:00: Dog Wash at Unleashed (Creedmoor). Are your holiday guests about to be greeted by a smelly pup? Don’t let that happen: Second Chance will wash your dog for you! Suggested $10 donation per dog.

As 2016 draws to a close, we are ever more grateful for all of your support and all you have done for the animals, be it adopting, volunteering, fostering, donating money or supplies, sharing our social media posts, or attending our events. We could not do this rescue work without the support of this wonderfully loving community (that’s you)!

And, of course, we are also grateful for the reliable support provided by our generous corporate sponsors all year long!

News from Second Chance

As 2016 comes to a close, it may be cold outside, but our hearts are warm and cozy when we reflect on the accomplishments of Second Chance Pet Adoptions this past year, made possible by you!

Rosanna, adopted in September (along with her brother, Bill Bradley), and Hendrix, adopted in November, will be safe from the cold and warmed by the love of a family this winter!

In 2016:
•   We have sent over 420 cats and dogs to their forever homes as of today, an increase of 13% compared to this time in 2015;
•   We added a new staff position and a new staff member;
•   We enhanced our Evening of Pawsibilities auction with mobile bidding (and a photo booth!) and our Art to the Rescue auction with online bidding;
•   We raised over $20,000 with our Racing for Rescues 5K, our most successful race yet (save the date: the 2017 event is May 7!);
•   We launched our corporate sponsorship program and secured the reliable support provided by four sponsors (Dogtopia of N. Raleigh, Care First Animal Hospital, BottleMixx, and Triangle Law Group);
•   Last month, we received a Petco Foundation grant to install bigger and better kitty condos in 2017;
•   We returned to our favorite places for fundraising events (like Raleigh Brewing Company) and forged new connections (like with Compass Rose and Bottle Revolution) for fun and fantastic fundraisers this year and plans for even more presence in the community in 2017!

On the eve of our 30th birthday (Second Chance began in 1987), we are so proud of how far we have come and so thankful to all of you who have made it possible!

We are excited for the arrival of 2017 and all the plans we can’t wait to share with you…but

we can only make 2017 our best year yet with your help!

Last month, we set a goal to raise $20,000 by the last day of 2016 with our “Love Keeps Us Warm” campaign. We are over 70% there thanks to your donations sent in from #GivingTuesday onward!
