Newly Named Petco Love Invests in Lifesaving Work of Second Chance Pet Adoptions
Grant of $5,000 will help save more pet lives in the Triangle region of NC
Raleigh, NC (June 22, 2021) – Second Chance Pet Adoptions announced today a $5,000 grant investment from the newly named, Petco Love, to support their lifesaving work for animals in the Triangle region of North Carolina.
Petco Love is an nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.
“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Second Chance Pet Adoptions and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. Recently, we also launched the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”
“Pet Love’s investment in our lifesaving efforts will ensure that more cats and dogs in need get their second chances to find love,” said Lisa Imhof, Senior Director of Operations at Second Chance. “Our organization–homegrown and independent–has seen substantial growth over the last 5 years, and with increased intake comes increased medical bills; Petco Love’s support will offset the price of medical care for the animals and give them the quality medical care they need and deserve.”
Second Chance is a nonprofit animal rescue organization serving pets and people in the Raleigh area and beyond. Since 1987, Second Chance has saved and changed the lives of over 15,000 cats and dogs, primarily through rescuing stray and abandoned cats and dogs and placing them in their loving homes. Second Chance also serves the community by funding spay/neuter procedures to prevent animals from being born into homelessness and by partnering with other local organizations to provide low-income pet guardians with food, vaccines, and pet supplies in an effort to prevent them from surrendering their animals to shelters and rescues in times of hardship.
