With Thanksgiving behind us and holiday shopping in full swing, we’re approaching the global day of philanthropy known as #GivingTuesday! On Tuesday, November 30, Second Chance will join the many nonprofits who will be raising money in service of our mission: to give every stray and abandoned cat and dog the second chance to find love that they need and deserve. We invite you to join us for a live-streamed tour of our adoption center that evening at 7:30 p.m. Eastern so you can meet the animals who will immediately benefit from your donations (to say nothing of the 1,000 animals whose lives will be saved and changed by your gift over the next year)! Simply hop over to our Facebook page (you don’t need a Facebook account to watch) and go behind the scenes as we introduce animals!
The first $5,000 donated to Second Chance animals on #GivingTuesday will be DOUBLED by a generous anonymous donor! Your donation goes TWICE as far this morning in memory of a special kitty named Stinky so that more cats (and dogs!) can get their second chance to know the kind of love that Stinky knew.
Increase your impact: create a fundraiser!
YOU can create a fundraiser of your own any time between now and Tuesday: it’s quick and easy! Not only do these fundraisers bring in much-needed funds for the animals, but they introduce new people to our mission to expand the Second Chance family! There are two ways to do it, and both will get you a customized link to share with your family and friends.
- Through JustGiving:
- Start your set-up by going to https://www.justgiving.com/
fundraising-page/creation/? campaignShortName=gt-2021. Sign up (or log in if you’ve used JustGiving before). - Click “Start” under “Celebrating an Occasion.” Under “My page is in celebration of,” choose “something else.” Add “Giving Tuesday” when the “I’m celebrating” box pops up. Select November 30, 2021 as the date of the event.
- It’ll suggest a slug for your URL; you can accept it as-is or edit it if you’d like. Click “Next.”
- Opt into or out of emails and select “Create Your Page.”
- You can then personalize your page and/or goal if you’d like, but it’s also pre-set for ease for those who don’t want to customize!

- Through Facebook:

fund/SecondChanceNC/ or use the hamburger menu (the 3 lines) in your Facebook app (then you’d click “Fundraisers” under “Community Resources,” “Select Nonprofit,” choose Second Chance Pet Adoptions, edit however you’d like, and hit “Create”). - Either way, some content is already set in place for you if you’d prefer not to do any editing at all, but you can edit if you’d like!
