The 19th Annual Evening of Pawsibilities Brings in a Record $105,000 for the Animals!
I’m never gonna let you down / I’m always gonna build you up / And when you’re feeling lost, I will always find you, love / I’m never gonna walk away / I’m always gonna have your back / And if nothing else, you can always count on that / When you need me, I promise I will never let you down
In that ballroom of the Raleigh Convention Center last Saturday night, Colbie Caillat sang these promises in the soundtrack for the video we showed, featuring animals saved since last year’s Evening of Pawsibilities. They are promises that we have made, together, to stray and abandoned cats and dogs awaiting a second chance. Because of your support, around 1,000 animals’ lives will be changed in the next 12 months: they will be rescued from homelessness, illness, and injury; they will be spayed or neutered; and they will find their forever families, all before the 2020 Evening of Pawsibilities. The life-saving work we’ll do in the next year is thanks to, and on behalf of, every single person who purchased event and raffle tickets, donated and bid on auction items, purchased a Wine Pull and Grab Bag, sponsored the event, helped us prepare for and execute the affair, donated on-site or from afar, and spread the word about our gala. From the bottoms of our hearts, we thank you for affirming your commitment to the animals so generously through this annual shindig!
P.S. – Our Director of Operations, Lisa Imhof, promised our supporters she’d treat them to a live performance if we reached our fundraising goal. Guests and online viewers watching our live stream gave generously, and so…
The Evening of Pawsibilities moves downtown for a swanky night out!
Say hello to furry friends on your way in, then browse the plethora of silent auction items during the cocktail hour, featuring complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres for all guests. Take a seat with friends for a plated dinner and delectable desserts and keep an eye on your bids via your smartphone or tablet.
Between courses, hop into the free photo booth to create some memories and take your chances in the Wine Pull, raffle, and Grab Bag games. Prepare to be delighted by our emcee of the evening, Benjamin Farrell, who will keep you on your toes through the live auction and other engaging enhancements throughout the night.
All good things must come to an end, so at 10:00, we say goodnight, knowing the fun we had together has given over 750 stray and abandoned animals (like Eden and Buster here) a second chance!
Tickets on sale now! You can also purchase parking in a covered deck adjacent to the Convention Center!
While you may bid on silent auction items from anywhere in the world (as long as you are able to pick up your winnings from Second Chance by Oct. 31, 2019, or have someone do so on your behalf), you may only bid on and win live auction items if you are present at the event, so don’t miss the opportunity!
UNABLE TO ATTEND?
You can still join the fun and make YOUR impact on animal homelessness in the Triangle!
- Click HERE and select “Register to Participate” to create a free GiveSmart account, bid on silent auction items, and donate from afar!
- Those who donate through GiveSmart, whether at the event or elsewhere, will have their name displayed on the big screen at the front of the ballroom! No need to wait for the event to begin–you can donate now!
- Watch our live stream on Facebook around 8:15 PM (through which you can also see your name on the big screen, too, after you make your donation through GiveSmart)!
Timing for the Evening:
- 6:00: Cocktail hour begins; guests peruse live and silent auction items, hop in the (free) photo booth, and of course, visit with the animals! Also a great time to hit the Wine Pull and Grab Bag tables!
- 7:15: Program begins with the salad course, a welcome from the President of our Board of Directors, and the live auction
- 7:50: Entrées are served with reminders that the silent auction is 30 minutes away from closing
- 8:20: The silent auction closes. Our Director of Operations addresses the crowd and presents a video demonstrating the impact of your donations, which we then begin collecting
- 8:45: You are sweet and so is dessert and coffee!
- 9:00: Raffle ticket sales close and our auctioneer leads the guests in a game
- 9:15: The raffle winners are drawn
- 9:20: Check-out opens for those who have won silent or live auction items, made purchases at the Wine Pull or Grab Bag tables, or scored a raffle or game prize
Online raffle ticket sales have now closed. If you’ll be attending the event, you can purchase tickets there!
Whether attending or not, YOU can support the animals and win an awesome prize! We’ve got 3 high-value prizes for you this year and YOU get to decide which prizes to win!
- A 50/50 drawing, in which one lucky winner will bring home half the money generated by ticket sales for this prize!
- A Tommy Bahama rolling 100-quart cooler, packed with wine and wine glasses, beer and pint glasses, and a $50 Target gift card!
- A Cary Staycation package, including one night’s stay and gourmet breakfast at the Mayton Inn, a $100 gift card for Academy Street Bistro, and a $25 gift certificate to SideBar!
