CHADWICK FUND

This fund provides us with the resources to take in animals that are left behind, unprovided for, when their owners pass away. The Chadwick Fund was created when an employee of the NC DOT passed away at a very young age. He left behind only his companion, Chadwick, the cat. There were no arrangements for Chadwick and nowhere for him to go. Rescue groups were full and no one was able to help. The young's mans's co-workers chipped in together and started a fund to save Chadwick. SCPA took Chadwick in and the money that had been raised for him was donated to SCPA. In Chadwick's honor we continue to accept donations to this fund. It allows us to take cats that would not be adoptable in a shelter because of age, health or other issues that come with grieving the loss of their companion. We have volunteers that deal with the special needs of these grieving cats and foster homes that specialize in helping them adjust to life after the loss of their human companion.

PEGGY FUND

This fund provides us with the resources to take in animals, severely injured, that need extra medical treatment. The Peggy Fund was created when a petite little black cat was found living in a home being torn down. Peggy was taking care of her litter of kittens even though she had a leg that was completely unusable and had to be dragged around. The leg had to be amputated and she needed extra care to heal. She also needed extra medical care before she could be adopted. Special medical needs like Peggy's are expensive but necessary. It seems a small price to pay to help such sweet, grateful animals heal and share their lives in a loving home. The fund continues, in Peggy's honor, to help pay medical costs of cats and dogs needing emergency care.
